Events

Bridge the Real and Virtual worlds at your events and reach a wider audience using virtual worlds. Allow guests to join the event from across the world and take your event world-wide.

Below are some examples of what how your event can benefit from a virtual world presence. With virtual worlds you can:

  • Create an accurate representation of your event venue or create a venue themed to the subject of your event. Bring together the attendees with guests from across the world.
  • Extend your attendee figures by opening the event to online visitors. Stream video of key event fixtures and allow interaction from the online audience.
  • Create avatars that resemble the real-world attendees. Take your keynote speakers or special guests into the virtual world with a realistic avatar.
  • Sell tickets for the event at a virtual box office. Allow attendees to book seats and get a view of the event in a virtual conference room.

See below some examples of how events have used virtual world technology:

URBIS - Hacienda 25 Exhibition and Launch Event

To celebrate the opening of the URBIS exhibition commemorating the 25th anniversary of the opening of Manchester's legendary Hacienda club, Second Places hosted a Second Life party in the Second Life Urbis building. Live music was streamed from the real life event which was happening at the same time from famed DJs Peter Hook, Sasha and Graeme Park. Pieces from the exhibition were shown in the virtual gallery for the duration of the exhibition.

Big Chip Awards

The organisers of the Big Chip Awards ceremony 2007 and 2008 asked Second Places to host the event live in Second Life mimicking what actually happened at the real life event held in Manchester. Second Places created the arena, hosted the event and streamed a live video feed onto a virtual screen within the arena where the virtual audience watched live-streamed video of the live event.
