Second Life is the most famous and widely used three dimensional virtual environment. Second Life is split into two grids (or networks), the main grid (which caters for over 18 year olds only) and the teen grid (for those between the ages of 13-18).
Second Life client is free allowing anyone with internet access free and easy access to the environment. It has its own internal market with the L$ (linden dollar) as the currency. You can purchase and sell your L$ for US$ (US Dollars) allowing you to make real money from the economy of Second Life through the delivery of services.
Second Life has over 20 Million unique avatars and over 40,000 people online at any one time. There are many "communities" in Second Life, that allow people to interact and communicate with people with similar interests, persuasions and nationalities. Second Life has been called "a 3D Social Networking Site".
