Collaboration is a service which can be used by most organisations. Whether it is to host online meetings, events and exhibitions or to use as an internal communication channel.
Virtual Meetings
Second Places provide a platform for organisations to hold online interactive virtual meetings. By using this service organisations can hold meetings where people from all over the world can attend without incurring huge costs and the inconvenience of travel. It also provides a more personal environment than can be achieved via email and video conferencing.
Events
Second Places give organisations the ability to hold online virtual events, bringing together people from around the globe.
The Robin Cook Seminar is an example of a project previously created by Second Places within the virtual platform of Second Life. The feedback from the event was very positive with people visiting the event from all over Europe and even Japan.
Exhibitions
Second Places can provide the ability for companies to work together allowing them to conduct exhibitions online on a B2B or B2C bases. This is also a useful tool for recruitment allowing organisations to hold online open days and virtual career fairs.
The Key Innovation Centre often plays host to exhibitions where exhibitors can showcase the IT products and solutions offered by the private sector to the government.
Training
Organisations have previously used the collaboration service to host online work shops to transfer information, train clients and personnel and educate the target markets.
This provides particular benefits to organisations with a number of locations as it ensures consistency of training from location to location. It also reduces the costs which may be incurred by transporting all personnel to one place for training, or paying for an expert to go to each location. Kent County Council used a similar technique to conduct virtual workshops online during their innovation showdown event.
Internal Communications
Second Places provide a fun and unique environment for personnel to communicate internally. This helps create a more open environment for staff to express ideas and opinions whilst building strong internal relationships between management and personnel.
Civic, an award winning web and digital communications company, engaged Second Places to create a unique environment for all personnel to go and discuss with other people their thoughts and feelings developing an interactive working environment.
